salt the wound

pain

a late night confession:
just salt dusting the wound again

may the sizzle be a lesson,
let it seal every pore

the new layer will be thicker
my diversions, quicker

to best honour the persistence
of this residual sting

fulfillment

fulfillment

her journey
into the storied garden
was met with trepidation
upon first stride

through the ivy gate’s welcome
into a spread of foreign blossoms
warmed by sunshine kiss,

she emerged blissful,
fulfilled

iris

iris

iris strains
in wasted field

paper-petals
flag

she trusts that gold
will cut the skies

sadly, the storm
won’t soon
subside
